Before the iRay Pluto sensor can communicate with Dentrix Ascend Imaging, the required driver, acquisition software, and configuration settings must all be completed correctly. This guide explains each step in a clearer, more practical way to help you get your sensor ready for clinical use.
Before configuring the sensor, verify the following:
Installing these components beforehand helps avoid unnecessary configuration issues later.
The first step is to install the manufacturer-provided drivers, which allow Windows to recognize the sensor. Please note that you may need to install the full iRay software package to correctly initialize these drivers
1. Open the Acquisition Agent from the Windows system tray, then go to Preferences > Digital Sensor. For the iRay Pluto sensor, keep the default Work Directory or browse to select a different location.
2. Navigate to the folder where the Acquisition Agent is installed. The default location is typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Acquisition Agent. In this folder, you will find an archive named IRayPluto.zip. Copy the archive to your desktop, extract all files, and then copy the extracted files back into the Acquisition Agent installation folder.
After configuration is complete, verify that the sensor is working correctly.
Within Dentrix Ascend Imaging:
1. Select the 1 Bitewing imaging procedure.

2. In the tooth selection chart, select the teeth you want to include in the test image.
3. In the Acquisition method for this imaging exam menu, select iRay Pluto from the available devices.

4. Click Start.
5. Capture a test radiograph and confirm that the image appears successfully in the patient's imaging record.
If the image appears successfully, the installation has been completed correctly.
