Woodpecker PT-Amodel combines air polishing and scaling into a single, user-friendly system with an intuitive touch screen display. This comprehensive prophylaxis solution effectively removes plaque using compressed air to spray a powder-water mix, ensuring patient comfort while protecting the tooth surface.
The PTA features dual water supply bottles and a multifunctional foot pedalfor enhanced efficiency. It is FDA approved and includes aone-year warranty for added reliability.
The device automatically identifies the ultrasonic mode when using the ultrasonic handpiece and switches to air polishing mode with the air polishing handpiece.
Air Polishing Benefits
Effective Plaque Removal: Air polishing excels in cleaning occlusal surfaces, interproximal areas, and around orthodontic brackets, achieving significant scaling results in hard-to-reach areas.
Surface Smoothing: Following ultrasonic or manual scaling, air polishing smooths the tooth surface, reducing roughness and minimizing plaque and pigment adhesion.
Subgingival Air Polishing
This feature effectively manages inflammation in natural teeth and peri-implantitis, helping to reduce probing depths. The subgingival nozzle, made from flexible polymers, is 360° rotatable and designed to eliminate biofilms from hard-to-reach areas.
Recommended Angle: 30°-60°
Recommended Distance: 3-5 cm Compared to traditional scaling, this method provides superior cleaning for both tooth surfaces and complex implant threads.
Three-Directional Powder Output
This design enhances cleaning efficiency, utilizing elliptical vibration to maintain a 0° angle between the tip and tooth surface for optimal polishing. The small-caliber nozzle allows for concentrated air polishing, while an anti-blocking system minimizes interruptions.
Water and Air Supply
Outer Water Supply:Provides protection and warmth, facilitating washing and adjustment.
Inner Compressed Air and Powder:Effectively removes pigments, plaque, soft debris, and early tartar.
Ultrasonic Periodontal Treatment
The elliptical vibration track disperses impact forces, ensuring the titanium alloy tip (hardness: HRC30) is gentler than cementum and enamel, preventing damage during treatment. In contrast, stainless steel tips have a hardness of HRC50.
Endodontic Treatment and Implant Maintenance
The lightweight handpiece is designed for longevity and features dual water supply options, including two anti-corrosive water bottles (600ml and 1400ml) and an external water supply for special chemicals such as chlorhexidine, hydrogen peroxide, and sodium hypochlorite.
Multi-Functional Foot Pedal
The foot pedal offers various modes for enhanced functionality:
Water Free Mode
Boost Mode
Washing Mode
Standard Mode
Unit Modes
The device operates in three distinct modes to accommodate different treatment needs:
(G)Scaling/Supragingival Air Polishing
(P) Perio/Subgingival Air Polishing
(E) Endodontic Treatment

Air Polishing Handpiece Troubleshooting Guide
If the air polishing handpiece sprays water but no powder, first check the handpiece, then the line interface, and finally the powder canister.
Air flows normally after removing the handpiece. → Handpiece may be clogged.
No air from the line, but air flows from the main unit port after disconnecting the line. → Line interface may be clogged.
Replacing the powder canister restores normal air flow. → Original powder canister may be clogged.
What should I do if the air polishing handpiece sprays water but no powder?
Perform the following step-by-step diagnostic test: • Check the Air Polishing Handpiece: Remove the air polishing handpiece. If air comes out normally, this indicates that the handpiece is clogged. • Check the Line: Unplug the line from the main unit panel. If air flows out of the unit port after unplugging the line, it means that the line interface is blocked. • Check the Powder Canister: Replace the powder canister with a clear spare. If air flows normally after replacing it, the original powder canister is likely blocked.
How do I handle a clogged air polishing handpiece?
For Slight Clogging
• Prepare a short nozzle cleaner and a long nozzle cleaner. • Insert the short cleaner into the central tube of the nozzle. Move it forward and backward, and rotate to clear debris. • Next, insert the long cleaner into the central tube from the rear of the handpiece. Move it forward and backward, and rotate to clear debris. • Finally, use a 3-way air syringe to flush and clean the handpiece tubes.
For Serious Clogging
• Unscrew and remove the nozzle assembly from the air polishing handpiece. • Clean the front part of the nozzle with the short cleaner. • Clean the rear part of the nozzle with the long cleaner. • Thoroughly flush the tubes with a 3-way air syringe. • Reinstall the nozzle assembly onto the air polishing handpiece.
What should I do if no air comes out after removing the air polishing handpiece?
If no air flows after removing the air polishing handpiece, the blockage is likely located at the line interface. Unplug the line cord directly from the main unit panel, then use a 3-way air syringe to back-flush the tube and remove the blockage.
How do I flush and clear a blocked line interface?
Unplug the line cord directly from the main unit panel, then use a 3-way air syringe to back-flush the tube and remove the blockage.
How do I clear a blocked powder canister?
Empty all remaining powder out of the canister. Use a 3-way air syringe to blow away residual powder from the chamber, base ports, and internal tubes. Run the Purge function on the main unit.
